Paddling season is in full swing and Main Beach Surf and Sport is working hard to protect our local waters from pollution and nutrient overloading which can lead to dangerous algae blooms. Join with us as we go “Back to the Bays” with this years “Race for the Bays” at Havens Beach in Sag Harbor.
This year we will be pulling for the Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program. Check out several cool ways for you to “Pull for the Bay”.

May 6th – 7:30am, Havens Beach, Sag Harbor. Join us for a Main Beach Team Paddle with special Guests: Master Shaper: Joe Bark and Cornell’s Marine Habitat Guru, Kimberley Barbour. We will be paddling and then we will be meeting up with our Scallop Program crew who will be out on their pontoon barge, Shellstar.  They will give us an overview of their program and then welcome paddlers to participate in helping seed the bay with scallops in support of establishment of a new scallop spawner sanctuary in Northwest Harbor.

May 6th – 5pm, Main Beach Surf and Sport, Pre-Race Yoga Clinic with Werner Paddles – Jeramie Vaine. Movies, Pizza, Meet and Greet with Jeramie and Master board shaper Joe Bark at the Shop.

May 7th – 7:30am, Havens Beach, Sag Harbor. Paddle Race for the Bays. 7:30am sign in and Registration, 9am Race Start. Pre and Post Race Refreshments, Awards and a Marine Habitat Workshop at 11am.

Check out our Back to the Bays fundraising drive at: http://goodcircle.org/projects/back-to-the-bays/

Paddling, Habitat Restoration, or Fundraising contributions offer three great ways for you to give back to the bays.

This for being a part of the solution for clean water in the Peconic Bay Estuary.
